Welcome to The Congregational Church in Killingworth, United Church of Christ! I am pleased that you have found our web site and hope you will find it a helpful way to get to know our church.
Our doors are open wide to all those seeking to find a safe, but invigorating place for spiritual life, growth, fellowship and service. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here.
I hope you will join us some Sunday morning when our worship begins at 10 a.m. You will find that you are surrounded by people just like you – people filled with hopes and fears, joys and sorrows, strengths and weaknesses. Our common thread is that we are all committed to growing in our faith and letting our faith propel our actions in this world.
If you have children, we have a very active Christian Education program. We believe that children grow in their faith by experiencing it! The children worship with their families each week for the first part of the service, including the opportunity to receive communion once a month. After the children’s message, they leave for hands-on experiences in our Sunday School programs. We have groups for both middle-school and high school students that stress service while providing much fellowship and fun.
Please take some time to browse through our site and click on information about our programs. Whether you are a spiritual seeker who’s just starting to ask questions about God, or a committed believer who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home at The Congregational Church in Killingworth, United Church of Christ.
In peace,
Martha Bays
Minister
Reverend Martha Bays joined our congregation as our minister in January, 2009. She is a recent graduate of Andover Newton Theological School, and also has a B.A. from Smith College and an M.A. in Education from Case Western Reserve University. While in seminary, Martha worked in congregations in Natick and Manchester-By-The-Sea, Massachusetts. Prior to that, Martha was a librarian in Shaker Heights, Ohio where she also raised her two children, Carter and Abby. During that time she became very active in her home church, Plymouth Church, UCC, and it was that experience of seeing how transformational churches can be that led to her call to the ministry.
